The Tourism Development Plan (SDT) defines the strategy for the Saint-Marcellin Vercors Isère region to structure, develop, and promote its tourism offerings. It's a roadmap shared between local authorities, professionals, and partners, with a clear objective: to strengthen the region's attractiveness and generate sustainable local economic benefits.

💡 To remember

  • ✓ A shared tourism strategy across the territory
  • ✓ One objective: to move from a transit territory to a territory for permanent residence
  • ✓ A concrete action plan to develop tourism
  • ✓ A tool at the service of professionals and communities

A strategic vision for the territory

The SDT (Territorial Development Strategy) is based on three main ambitions: developing the local tourism economy , structuring a coherent and easily understandable offering , and uniting stakeholders around a common project . It helps identify the region's strengths, areas for improvement, and the levers to activate in order to build a sustainable and attractive tourism offering.

The 4 major challenges identified

The territorial diagnosis has made it possible to group the tourism issues into four major challenges, which structure our action for the years to come.

????

Sustainable and locally rooted tourism

Promote the authentic assets of the region: local produce, heritage, gastronomy, and unspoiled nature. Strengthen tourism and capitalize on our unique strengths.

📅

Spread out the seasonality

Transforming a transit area into a destination for stay. Smoothing out seasonality and developing activity in the off-season with a quality offering all year round.

🎯

Developing attractiveness

To build a successful tourism offering, control the impacts on the territory, better integrate supra-territorial strategies and support private initiatives.

🤝

Consolidate the customer base

Building loyalty among existing customers, extending length of stay and supporting collective projects to strengthen the coherence of the tourism offer.

Our roadmap: the 6 areas of intervention

To meet these challenges, the Tourist Office has put in place a roadmap since October 2021 , structured around six priority areas of intervention.

🚀

Axis 1 · Support for tourism professionals

Supporting stakeholders in priority sectors: travel, nature, heritage, gastronomy.

🌍

Axis 2 · Eco-responsible positioning

To integrate the territory into a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach.

????

Axis 3 · Strengthening attractiveness

Promote SMVI to local, regional, national and European customers.

🤝

Axis 4 · Reception and loyalty

Optimize the reception and dissemination of information to satisfy and retain visitors.

💼

Axis 5 · Commercial Repositioning

Develop effective marketing strategies for the destination and service providers.

📊

Axis 6 · Observation and monitoring

To monitor tourism performance and track industry trends.
