Museum Overview

Built in the middle of the XNUMXth century, on a hill well detached in front of the hills bordering the mountain of Coulmes, the castle of Beauvoir supervised in feudal times the waterway, the land passage between Valentinois and the plain of St Marcellin.

Starting from Beauvoir-en-Royans, the hike begins at the car park in front of Beauvoir Castle. This former strategic site, during the feudal era, controlled the Isère river route as well as the land passage between the Valentinois region and the Saint-Marcellin plain.

The route gradually climbs into the Royans hills, alternating between paths and open sections. Upon reaching the highest points, the hiker enjoys exceptional panoramas: the Chambaran hills, the Monts du Matin and the Coulmes massif unfold before the eye.

Throughout the route, the hike blends heritage, landscapes and nature. A stop is possible at the Beauvoir-en-Royans Honey Garden, an educational site dedicated to bees and biodiversity.
