Museum Overview
Between agricultural plains, walnut groves and unobstructed views of the Vercors, this accessible circuit takes quiet little roads, ideal for discovering the landscapes around Saint-Marcellin, while enjoying a rich natural and cultural heritage.
After leaving Saint-Marcellin train station and crossing the urban area (approximately 2 km), the route begins on flat ground, then descends gently towards La Sône, a charming town located on the banks of the Isère. A stop is highly recommended to admire the surprising tufa waterfalls that adorn the banks of the river.
The road then climbs slightly for 2 kilometers towards the plain of Saint-Hilaire-du-Rosier, then continues for 9 easy, descending kilometers, alternating between open views of the Vercors and passages through the walnut groves typical of the region.
After passing under the spectacular cable-stayed viaduct of Saint-Lattier, a 2,5-kilometer climb awaits you to reach the hills of Saint-Bonnet-de-Chavagne. A little further on, at kilometer 23, you'll be just 1,5 km from the Château de l'Arthaudière, a superb Renaissance residence surrounded by gardens, open to the public. It's the perfect place for a cultural break or a water refill.
The end of the circuit takes place on a slightly ascending profile towards Chatte, then Saint-Marcellin, which you join to close this peaceful and varied loop.
