Museum Overview

Offering bed and breakfast accommodation and a self-catering gîte, L'Amer provides a unique experience. Located in a secluded spot on the Presles plateau, it overlooks a wooded valley and offers breathtaking views, from the Royans plains to the Vercors peaks.

In an exceptional natural setting, L'Amer offers the luxury of space and silence. Located on the heights of the commune of St André en Royans, not far from the village and the cliffs of Presles, on the edge of the Vercors Regional Natural Park, this former sheepfold is an ideal place for contemplation and walks, for getting together as a couple, with family or friends, to take a step back from everyday life.

The Amer is an isolated, autonomous site:
- electricity is produced by solar panels and stored;
- the water comes from the rain, passes through 2 tanks before being filtered to make it potable;
- the water heater and the stove run on gas;
- heating is provided by wood stoves:
- only a buried cable allows a quality internet connection.

L'Amer offers several complementary spaces:
- Bedroom 1 (Officers' Wardroom). Single-story bedroom with wood-burning stove, bathroom (toilet, sink and Italian shower), 140cm double bed. A bay window opens onto the majesty of the landscape and a small terrace with table and 2 chairs.
- Bedroom 2 (The Lookout). A mezzanine dormitory room equipped with a double bed on a 160cm box spring, and 3 single beds on box springs.
- A multipurpose room with a lounge area, a modular table and a stage area (convertible into a 3rd bedroom if necessary).
- A fully equipped kitchen with shared access.

You can access one or two rooms, or the entire cottage.

The site is accessible by vehicle. The last drivable section is a 1 km dirt track. Parking near L'Amer is limited, so a drop-off point may be arranged if there are too many vehicles (parking is then located 100m further up the road - at a place called Ritanpan).

The nearest train station is Saint Marcellin Isère, 25 minutes away. Valence TGV station is a 45-minute drive. Grenoble is 1 hour away.

The owner: Nourished by a long international experience, a permanent curiosity for everything that connects, I successively explored the world of communities or that of the social and solidarity economy, diversifying the positions. In 2007, I deliberately put down my suitcases in the Vercors, in this particular place of the Presles plateau.
