UNKNOWN WORLDS by Grégory Schulé, an exhibition with free access at L'artsolite

Painter born in 1972 in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland, Grégory Schulé is a child of the skate generation. In the early 1990s, he participated in the arrival of graffiti in French-speaking Switzerland. He is deeply touched by the purely calligraphic aspect of some of this street art productions. He likes its graphic codes: the tight and repetitive lines, the constant play with the third dimension.

Living in Yverdon-les-Bains, he also regularly visits the Maison d'Ailleurs and admires works
renowned artists: Caza, H.-R. Giger, J. Gurney, L. Schuiten,… who had a profound impact on him.

In 2002, Grégory Schulé created his first gold leaf gildings. He worked on a stencil technique cut with a cutter. It was love at first sight! Using the cutter allowed him to rediscover a dynamic and fluid gesture. The particular luminosity of the gold generates a strong and powerful visual impact, almost
alive through the play of reflections.

Since then, he has patiently and in an unprecedented way questioned the foundations of calligraphy and made you
enter a supernatural world, a futuristic and semi-abstract painting.
His incredibly fine work, close to jewelry, gives rise to unique paintings that border on the third dimension and enter through a secret door into the world of optical art.
