Violinist Tedi Papavrami, known for his uncompromising commitment and profound musical intelligence, takes on the challenge of Paganini's 24 Caprices.

A true pinnacle of the solo violin repertoire, Niccolò Paganini's 24 Caprices have fascinated audiences for two centuries with their audacity and freedom. Composed between 1802 and 1817, they push the boundaries of both instrument and performer, blending dazzling virtuosity, melodic invention, and an expressiveness that is by turns brilliant, somber, or whimsical.
Each caprice explores a particular difficulty – dizzying leaps, left-hand pizzicati, lightning-fast strokes – while drawing a unique musical universe.
A legendary figure of his time, Paganini profoundly influenced his contemporaries, most notably Hector Berlioz. Admiring his genius, Berlioz received crucial support from him: after hearing the Symphonie fantastique, Paganini offered him a substantial sum of money, enabling Berlioz to continue his work. A few years earlier, he had also commissioned a piece for viola from him, which became the basis for Harold en 100.

Twenty-four Caprices for solo violin

The Chapel of Saint-Jean Le Fromental, of pre-Romanesque origin, belonged successively to the Benedictine monks of Montmajour and then to the Antonines for five centuries before being attached to the parish of Saint-Antoine.
It features architectural elements from the 12th century, such as the portal, and later elements like the bell tower, the side chapel, and the two lime trees planted in 1731. The chapel bell is likely one of the oldest in the Dauphiné, dated 1464.
Nestled in a magnificent setting, this chapel, classified as a historical monument in 1910, revealed some truly remarkable mural paintings during a recent restoration.
