Presentation

A circuit over time. Since Roman times, men have not hesitated to use the Isère, despite being an Alpine torrent, as a trade route.

The village of Sône bears witness to this industrial history which, from the Middle Ages to the XNUMXst century, has led men to invent, innovate and perfect know-how. From Benedictine monks in the XNUMXth century, to the activities of the third millennium, the village of Sône mixes its history with that of men, famous or anonymous, who put their intelligence at the service of a generous idea: "at the service of progress". Also discover the secret of the petrifying fountains…

From Voreppe, join the A49 towards Marseille / Valence. Continue for 32 km and take exit n°9 Pont-en-Royans / Saint-Marcellin. At the first two roundabouts turn left. At the third roundabout continue straight then at the next one exit left onto the D71. Continue until you cross the Sône bridge and park after the bridge.
In the village of La Sône follow the explanatory panels: the church, the former royal factory, the towpath, the springs, the Tufa quarries, the bridge, the castle, the streets. In the XNUMXth century, the Château de la Sône (fortified house at the time) suffered major damage during the wars of religion. Catholics and Protestants fight over it and Lesdiguieres besieges it.
