Conference: Sassenage / Vercors / Resistance
At the foot of the Vercors, Sassenage is a center of articulation between the maquis and the plain as evidenced by the names engraved in the rock wall located at the Charvet bridge. Charles Delestraint, first leader of the Secret Army in France, Jean Prévost, Jean Veyrat who was on the trip to Algiers alongside Eugène Chavant, civilian leader of the Vercors. But they are also names with local resonance, such as the mayor of the town Louis Reverdy or François Blumet who died during deportation.
