Presentation

La Galicière is a rural industrial complex of around ten buildings, dating from the end of the 17th century. The quality of the machines and their complete nature constitute the exceptional interest of this site, protected as a Historic Monument.

In 1870, La Galicière occupied the third rank of milling companies in the department of Isère by the importance of its equipment.
The entire cycle of silk transformation, from graining to worked silk via spinning, is still perfectly visible today.
Closed after the First War, La Galicière was managed for more than two centuries by the Crozel family, the last descendant of which died in 1996.
A couple of architects acquired it in 1997.
In August 2000, the association Les Amis de la Galicière was born, the purpose of which is to safeguard and animate this site.
Since then, Les Amis de la Galicière has organized cultural events, exhibitions, shows, workshops and guided tours to discover and share this silk milling factory.
