Presentation

This castle bears witness to Renaissance architecture. Successive architectural changes have left the imprint of each period, from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. Also, superb terraced gardens facing the Vercors.

Classified as Historic Monuments in 1991, the castle and its gardens are the subject of a major restoration campaign. The castle also bears witness to the past grandeur of 2 families of local lords, the Arthauds and the De La Portes. Worthy of attention in particular are the original sculpted decorations of the Renaissance portico and the historic gardens laid out in terraces, probably at the beginning of the 17th century.

While waiting to find the aspect of the time of the splendor and the majesty of the place, the visit of the castle of Arthaudière and its exhibition are an invitation to discover an unknown heritage steeped in history.
The exhibition "L'Arthaudière: A rural seigneury" occupies part of the old stables, now restored, and presents the adventure and history of the castle, its architectural evolution, its environment, and the men who lived there. . Three beautiful rooms fitted out in the outbuildings host temporary exhibitions of artists, from June to September.
