Surveyors of Remembrance, 80 years later

How the resistance leaves its mark in the landscape, how the battles of the Vercors, 80 years later, can bring memories into the exhibition gallery, how in a mise en abîme - the surveyor, the visitor - can browse the map, the history from Saint Nizier-du-Moucherotte, June 13, 1944, the first battle, to Vassieux, July 23, 1944, the most devastating of the killings.


Through their approach as surveyors of memory, the authors question whether we can still make an image of the bloodiest traces that have punctuated the territory even though they remain incomprehensible in terms of cruelty.

How can we create an image through landscape photography of a history of the Vercors resistance, intoxicated with freedom and youth, whose human cost may have been too heavy?
