From Pont-en-Royans to the Grotte de Choranche

Going up the Bourne gorges, reach the Choranche cave at the foot of the impressive limestone cliffs of Presles.

From the "picnic area", reach the park and go up along the banks of the Bourne. When you reach the stairs, take them to reach the road above. Continue to the left to reach the “Pont Picard”. Go up in the direction of the entrance to the gorges then cross the road and take the climb on the stairs in the direction of “Choranche”. These give way to a paved road on which you have to continue passing “Porte de Villeneuve”. 50 m before joining the D 531, turn right on the path to reach the “Pont Rouillard”. From there, continue on the Route du Moulin towards “Choranche”. At the "La Gerrassière" crossroads, continue left on the Chemin de Catinon. Arrived in the hamlet, at the crossroads, turn right. Passed the houses, join the flat track on the left, leaving the Chemin des Sétérées on the right. The route first joins “Chabaudière” then the village of Choranche. Go up towards the village crossing the Bourne then, at the intersection, turn left crossing the town center. On leaving the village, continue to the right in the direction of “Ranconnière”. After passing the cemetery, go directly after the bridge to the right on the uphill path. 50 m later, at the crossroads, turn right uphill on the path until you reach a road. Continue to the right on the latter crossing the houses to arrive at “Ranconnière”. Continue to the right on the path until you come to a ford. Cross it to reach the “Carrefour des Buis” further on. From there, on the way up, join the “Ruisseau de Gournier”. Take the footbridge to the right as far as the “Porche de Coufin”. The return is by the same route.
