Grenoble Walnut PDO, an exceptional terroir
The geographical production area extends across the departments of Isère, Drôme and Savoie, along the Isère valley. It is in these landscapes, between plains and hills and up to 800 m altitude, that the walnut develops its particular characteristics.
Three varieties of nuts from our region are grown: mayette, franquette and Parisienne.
recognized ancestral know-how
The walnut groves that line the Isère valley and the expertise of the walnut growers have shaped the identity of the region for generations. Production techniques have evolved, while preserving the practices and knowledge associated with the cultivation of this emblematic fruit.
The Grenoble Walnut has benefited from an Appellation of Origin since 1938, which has become a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). This recognition protects its geographical origin and a know-how closely linked to its terroir.
