Mont Noir is the highest cycle pass in the Vercors. This route of 18 km at 7% average will allow you to discover the Gorges des Écouges and its amazing tunnel. The Col du Mont Noir is located at an altitude of 1421 m, in the heart of the Coulmes forest.

From the village of Saint-Gervais, take the D35 towards Col de Roméyère and Rencurel.
The road first passes close to the walnut trees of the Isère valley before plunging into the forest.
Along the route, you will see the renowned Ecouges canyon, one of whose waterfalls is located just next to the road.
At kilometer 7, you will cross the amazing Ecouges tunnel, which is unlit. Be sure to bring a headlamp to cross it.
You will then pass near the Sensitive Natural Space of the Domaine des Écouges, a place representative of all the biodiversity of the mountain level. (km 7,5)
At the Col de Roméyère (km 11,3), turn right towards the Col de Romèyère. This road is closed in winter because it gives way to the Nordic domain of Coulmes.
