Presentation

Mont Noir is the highest cycle pass in the Vercors. The route via Pont en Royans and Presles offers a multitude of varied atmospheres.

From Pont en Royans, take the Gorges de la Bourne for 1,2 kilometres. Turn left on the D292 towards Presles. This first part of the climb will take you to the Tous Aures pass (5 km at 8%) and will offer magnificent views of the Bourne gorges and the Rochers de Presles, a major climbing site.
At the pass, turn right to reach Presles (km 10). At the hamlet of Faz (km 13,5), turn right towards the Nordic resort of Coulmes. Arrived at the crossroads of Patente (km 17,8), winter start of the cross-country ski trails, continue straight. Finally, at the bridle, at kilometer 19,5, turn left to complete the climb.

For the descent, you can go down by the same route, or choose one of the many descents offered by Mont Noir: by the Écouges, by Rencurel and the Gorges de la Bourne, by Saint Pierre de Chérennes or by Malleval en Vercors . Be careful on the descent, the tar is sometimes of poor quality.
