Presentation

This route, essentially through the undergrowth, is combined with the discovery of the Notre Dame du Sacré-Cœur Monastery in Chambarand.

Created on a farm acquired in 1867, the monastery originally occupied by monks who were expelled in 1903, was taken over until 2019 by Cistercian nuns, better known as Trappists, who shared their time between prayers. , manual labor, cheese making, austerity and silence. In 2020, the Trappist sisters were replaced by the Bernadine fraternity.

Departure from Saint-Appolinard, Chapelle Redon car park (possibility of picnicking, be careful of the road crossing which is dangerous here), take the direction of Bois de Bessins then Croix de Mouze, the Mur de la Trappe until la Trappe (here is the Monastery of Notre-Dame du Sacré-Cœur de Chambarand, possibility of discovering the manufacture of objects of piety in the monastery store). Return to the start at the Bois de Bessins crossroads.
